This may sound like a really bad idea, but has anyone tried CLR for removing hard water spots. Unfortunately, I have a well so I really have to work to keep the hard water spots off whenever I wash the car. We use CLR in the house to dissolve hard water and lime deposits, but I'm not sure what it will do to the paint on the car. Anyone has thoughts on this? Thanks.

Getting rid of them is one thing. Prevention is another. Growing up (and learning the fine art of car maintenance) my mom would tell us to wash the car windows with white vinegar to remove water spots. I remember that working. Nowadays, when I wash my car, I do so in the morning, or pull it inside right away, shade, anything!!! Then get it dried off as quickly as possible.
Do you have a water softener? Also, for final rinse, take the nozzle off and let a slower stream of water cascade down your car. Assuming you've been keeping it waxed, a great majority of the water will nicely sheet off. Fewer spots guaranteed!
