I've got smudges around the door frames on the A-pillars and the ceiling, and on the ceiling around the sunroof. Can anyone suggest the best way to clean these areas?

First understand that the headliner is glued to a molded foam. If you get it wet with any cleaner, the sufactants will break the glue and you will end up with a sagging headliner that cost a lot of money to replace.

You need two "huck" or "surgical" towels. These are kind of rough, are not like a terry towel, so they will not have lint come off and stick to the headliner.

Dampen one towel and wring it out, then fold into a quarter of it's size. Spray an allpurpose or interior cleaner ONTO the towel.

Rub gently the areas to be cleaned, making sure you do not soak the material.

The roughness of the towel, having it folded so it touches the material evenly will clean anything that can be cleaned.

Then, with the second dry towel folded the same way rub gently to pick up any residue of the soil and the cleaning product, plus this wicks most of any moisture from the headliner.

We have taught this in our PrepExcellence school for 9 years and we have several detail/new vehicle predelivery shops, they use the procedure daily with no adverse effects.

If the vehicle is a few years old, you will most likely find it necessary to clean the complete top as even non-smoker vehicles collect dirt into the headliner.

http://www.autoint.com</a
