...Fired up the Urq for the first time in a couple of months. Nice day outside so i figure I'd throw some gas in her a take it for a spin. Fired up she idled nice and smooth at 900rpm. About 30 seconds of letting her warm up the whining began. I shut her down quick not knowing what is was. Checked everything twice, nothing unusual, so fire her up again to track down the source of the noise.
She fired up again fine, idled fine loud whining noise. give it a little gas to see if the pitch would change, it did a little and stayed consistant. gas pedel felt smooth so the engine seemed to be in working order. I get out and stick and ear under the hood, sure enough coming from the turbo. A year ago i noticed some smoke from the manifold and I know she's got a hairline crack in her ex-manifold but aparently she's got a little more than a hairline crack. My guess the oil line into the turbo is either weeping or cracked somewhere and not enough oil is reaching the turbo. Two years ago i had the cooler replaced so i know that stuff is fine. No visable leaks yet with so much plumpbing orbiting the turbo it's hard too say if there is or not. So I'll begin pulling stuff back and investigate a little more. Meantime anyone out there have a nice 200 two piece ex-manifold for sale, If a gotta done a turbo may as well address the hairline crack while she's open.
