View Full Version : How hard it it to convert a Coupe GT into a Ur-Q? Anyone tried?

Martin *started* to do the conversion, but never finished.

You need a donor coupe and donor 4kq (or uraq, I suppose) for the quattro floorpan.

Now go look at the link for what else you need to do... :-)

It can be done, but.. Easier (and probably less expensive) just to get a urq.<ul><li><a href="http://www.kvquattro.com/cq_conversion.html">Here may be why he didn't finish..</a></li></ul>

to be honest you might as well get the real thing from Germany or just buy an Ur.
If you are going to do it may I suggest going right for the kill and taking 12" out of the middle. That is mostly whey I abandoned my original project. That and the fact I have bought couple of Ur-q since starting it.

Eric from Competition Motors in Bellville. I know he needed to cut the florsand swap them at a miniumum and I suspected a substantial amount of work for the rear suspension as well.

He would be much better off fixing what is needed on the Ur-q using parts from the Coupe (inner fenders, trunk lid, hood etc. etc).
