Somewhat car related. I had the opportunity to volunteer with the city to train police recruits on feild sobriety tests. It was very cool. The police instructors get you pretty well lit (in a controlled environment, not a bar) and after a couple of hours, bring in the recruits to train with real live drunks. It was hilarious fun, a great learning experience and, for me at least, quite reassuring. You see, I live in Southern Nevada, where many people think it is perfectly acceptable to drive when tanked. I also have a six year old son, and believe me, driving after dark on any Friday, Saturday or Holiday with him in the car is something I always fear. I highly recommend that any of you who can, take part in this important training for your local cops. You'll be drinking for a good cause. Now how many times can you say you've done that?

Stockornot,,
I work part time as a Deputy Sheriff here in Michigan, and completed my SFST ( Standard Field Sobriety training )5 years ago.. We were forunate to have some volunteers like yourself. What you prbably found out is that the cops are normal people, and Im sure some funny situations happened during the training... Thanks for taking Part !

Part of a masters project for one of the members.
Went to the University and set up an autoX course. Had the students drink a little at a time and do a survey of how they thought their abilities and/or function was/were impaired or not. Had them drive the course and monitored their times and performance with video. After the run had a local officer do a breathalyser. Did more drinking until they obviously had enough. Served lunch and let them chill for awhile. Reviewed the results (with video of how badly they actually did) and hopefully did some good. The officer checked them all before they were allowed to leave and we called it a day.
