So in other words, you've been happy with the current state of this country, our standing with other countries around the world and our strong, positive economic circumstance provided to us by the imbeciles of the previous administration?

Is that what you're saying?

Just because the Obama camp texted something different to your iPhone doesn't mean it's the gospel.....although the way everyone seems to revere him, I can't say I blame you if you believe it to be.

Longer than the last 8 years? Do explain how. I was thinking since the moron Reagan years....Sound about right?

country's ever experienced. Reagan was well-liked by just about every head of state on the planet except Castro. Even Gorbachev was a pal. You must be a product of government schools.
I hope you saved your history books.

While you're dusting them off, be sure to read the part about Jimmy Carter (who had the comfort of a Democratically-controlled Congress on his side and was still a horrible President) f*cking this country over royally, stagflation, horrible fiscal policy by the Fed, etc. Re-read the Reagan years so you *might* get a clue, and then hit the high notes on Clinton and NAFTA. Jobs? Who needs them? Our country can survive just fine on Wal-Mart and McDonalds.

blame or hope on a President. Anyone remember Congress? The Supreme Court? The U.S. government isn't a monarchy. However, in my opinion, this two party system has contributed more to the corrosion of our politics than most anything else. If We The People were really in charge of our own country, this could easily change. I just don't buy into the popular finger pointing that is going on, and I surely don't think this new administration is going to SAVE me from anything, and I don't think the last one is at fault for all my problems. Sorry guys he is just a man, not a saviour. And if you notice, it's the Cabinet you need to keep your eye on. Anymore, the Prez is little more than someguy reading the dummy cards and smiling or frowning for the camera.

President (obviously), but Congress has just as much power to confirm or deny his/her appointment. The Dems were in charge of congress the entire 8 years under Reagan, yet things got done and the country flourished after the 18 months they spent cleaning up after Carter. Checks and balances. Its there for a reason. Too much checking and not enough balancing, or vice versa, is not good and won't work in a free market. A fair amount of Nationalism is healthy, both in foreign policy and in trade.

HAHA! Wish I was 19 again. You know you might be right about not having a clue, I was only in high school and probably not fully aware as to the intricacies/complexities of government...but off the top of my head here's what I remember about Reagan:
"Reaganomics"
Savings and Loan Scandal
Iran/Contra Scandal
Union Busting
Those are just a few, but I will get my history books, dust them off and get back to you if you'd like

Reaganomics was pretty successful

it's widely believed he really didn't know Iran/Contra was going on, for better or worse

the S&L collapse? you're blaming Reagan? really? that seed was planted in the 70s with high inflation and the highly regulated S&Ls were losing money hand over fist because they couldn't compete. De-regulation combined with the TRA of '86 and the fed trying to bring inflation back under control really put the nail in the coffin.

I'll leave union busting alone. There's not enough bandwidth here for that. Ask the UAW how much their union's done for their jobs lately.
