Don't know quite what has inspired me to write this first posting on this forum, other than spring is in the air and all-steel bodied cars are making their appearance again after a long winter...

To say that the ur-quattro is my dream car is a gross understatment. There, I got that out. I've been looking at them for 25 years and test driving them here or there for 15. I've owned countless cars, including a number of Audis ('82 5000T, 88 90q, 93 90q, '02 A4, '05 A6 and now '06 A3). Some other makes in between. But never the elusive ur-quattro...

There's something truly special about it and those of you lucky enough to own one probably don't need to be reminded of this. But I'm going to remind you anyway. Next time you get behind the wheel be thankful for what you've got because there are many many other people like me that wish they had one. In exchange, I'm going to get into my A3 this afternoon with the same thought of those that wish they had my car. Don't get me wrong, it's a great car. But style-wise it's a plain vanilla compared to the ur-quattro. Character-wise, it'll never compare. Kind of reminds me of the new Impreza - nothing about it that's 'beautiful' - even though it's a great vehicle. Too bad it doesn't have flared fenders... which is why I almost bought an STi.

Back to my point: enjoy those cars and thank you very much for putting forth the effort to keep them on the road.

If you can handle it financially, then why not just live it. I have seen a few in my day, never driven one but they do stand out with tons and tons of awesome character. I love the styling and wide body flares. There is a good fella across the lake in VT with two great examples that I know of. All I'm saying is why not live it instead of dreaming. If I had a little more dough I'd be in a URs4 right now and not in my jetta trek.

HMM ?? how much does a Urquattro weigh?
