Are there any thoughts as to what to do with items like the hood, the rear hatch, the spoiler, and drivers window winder motor? Currently, my hood has bubbled on the leading edge and there is quite a bit or rust from stone chipping. I was hoping to find a pristine steel hood and possibly repaint it black metallic.
As far as the rear hatch goes, there is also quite a bit of rust forming at the bottom lip. This was caused by water collecting in there somehow. Is it possible to get the fiberglass oem ones here in the states? I suppose that would also be a repaint. I think I remember from a previous post that the only cure for a pitting non painted spoiler is to paint it.
The window winder motor is non functional and I had found a company called Arizona Autohaus with replacements. However, it is marked down as only applying to 84 and later cars. Does anyone have experience with these?

So I think that's it. I would like to see if anyon ehas thoughts on these parts or where I should look for them. Thanks

The problem is often in the switch or wiring. The window regulator from a cgt should work if it needs replacment. The positioning of the mounting studs may be different depending on year of build but relocating the mounting holes in the door sheetmetal isn't too difficult.

The window regulators for the old cars are NLA. The newer ones can be made to fit. There is a template for drilling new holes in the red Bentley manual.

I remember someone on Audifans had made a template which made this very simple. The newer style is probably all you will find (or really want)... I was nicely surprised when I took my door panels off to get at the speakers and found my regs had already been replaced as I saw the empty original holes.

The chances of findong a fiberglass rear hatch in the US are really slim, I don't think these ever made it on to Coupe GT's (even 87.5's) only the post-85 UrQ's which we got 2 of in the US.

If you poke around in the southwest you should easily find non-rusty 4000 / coupe GT body parts. For larger items I have had really good luck with www.uship.com It is an ebay subsidiary/partner which works in reverse of an auction. You put out a shipment request and then shippers choose the items they can haul (usually to fill up a light load). You can either state a target price (ship it now) or let them bid to get the shipment based on the price / timeframe that works best for you. I have had had my sport hood and other body pieces shipped this way and Im happy - especially with the size restrictions of Greyhound...

much luck! drive it to CO this summer ;o}

I have two rust free steel trunk lids. I am in southeast PA. One is graphite and the other is tornado red.

Let me know if you might have an interest.
