I just wanted to run the autocross in preparation for the Hershey Hill Climb in May. I would much rather break something in a parking lot than during a 100mph sprint through the tress ! The car ran pretty well. It still has a slight detonation problem that we are working on. The suspension felt pretty good. It really is pretty neutral, considering it was designed and setup over 22 years ago. I did however have the throttle cable come apart. The rubber bushing at the top of the peddle assembly seems old and brittle and the pin that goes through it just came out. Is this a common problem and if so what is the easy fix ? We have a few ideas so I'm sure we will have it taken care of for the track event at Pocono this weekend. The car is really coming along nicely. It is not near as quick as the World Challenge or Istook cars, but it wins hands down for the coolness factor and it's still street legal. With the cost of diesel fuel right now the big truck and trailer is better off staying at home. The car really drew a lot of attention over the weekend. I will keep you guys posted on it's development. I hope to see a lot of you at Carlisle next month. Bill III

it is nice and consistent. I will have a better idea this weekend, after I do a track event at Pocono. I am putting Castrol SRF fluid in this week. That is what we use in all of my other cars and it is the best stuff out there. I am not the easiest on brakes, so I hope it will keep them from boiling, but we shall see.

The foam throttle cable bushings..

Yes, they let go after ~20 years, as they get tired and crumble away. Often, at the most inconvinient time (like just about to pull into traffic!)

New rubber bushings are still available at the dealer. A new set (2 bushings) shold last you another 20 years.. :-)
