Just needed a couple of pointers on replacing the valve cover gasket....does anyone have a part number...are there any special precautions to go thru....should I use RTV in addition to the gasket and if so where....am I missing anything?

Thanks much, just trying to get it on the road again this year

Ive always been more concerned about it gooping off into the valves and then messing something up, so thats why just a tiny amount.

I always thought that the RTV & O2 sensor issue only applied if the RTV was exposed to the intake air (allowing the o2 sensor to 'see' the curing RTV). Things line intake manifolds and stuff like that.

I did't think the warning applies so much to things like valve cover or oil pans and such that don't see air 'used' by the motor.

Any consensus, or out to lunch?

Would i smear that on both sides of the gasket all the way round, or just in the corners of the semicircle at the front. Or, conversely, leave rtv off completely?

the vapor issues with the O2 sensor, but I cant see how an cam cover would be effected, certainly those gases vent back into the intake path on a street engine.

Just check your local parts house. Every brand has one.
