View Full Version : WTB URQ's for sale 13blackknight 02-23-2008, 08:23 AM anyone selling a URQ, any year, good body preferred, any colour villainS4 02-23-2008, 08:46 AM yet, and as it is on its final build the more i see it and realize what has been done, the more i dont think im going to sell it. Doubt anyone would be willing to pay what its worth to me anyway. quattro v1.0 02-23-2008, 09:44 AM villainS4 02-23-2008, 10:37 AM after seeing it the last time, i think if i needed to sell one of the toys i would let the 996 go before selling the quattro. They have had to fabricate a ton of stuff for it and it apparently should be putting 400+ to the wheels, so it should be plenty quick and its such a one off that its irreplaceable. vs. the porsche which besides the super rare interior options, can be replaced easily. i mean enough dough would probably sway my opinion, but I doubt i'm going to sell this car once i finally get to drive it...apparently only days away - they are working on the interior currently replacing the remaining carpeting and such. ...honestly I'll probably do what it takes and keep both of them :-) gmbchef 02-23-2008, 06:46 PM would make me change my mind. Mr.FRU-T-Pants 02-24-2008, 10:23 AM No way I'd sell my car at this point, though. I couldn't get even half of what I have in it, and it's gonna be a hoot. Sounds very similar to yours. I think we're running the same peripherals/components. Good luck with completing it. Very curious to see what you end up dynoing, too. Cheers, fishyfishfish 02-25-2008, 09:20 AM My car has been immobile for years -- purchased on ebay from a dishonest seller, sat in my garage not running for many years while i debated selling it, went the opposite route and sent it to 2bennett for at least a year for everything replaced, the AAN conversion, RS2 stuff, big brakes, coilovers, etc., then learned the handling characteristics of a car with an iron lump hanging over the front wheels as i pushed hard going into a hairpin and married the side of a mountain in malibu canyon almost immediately after getting the car "done", and now it's been back up at 2bennett for over a year to get the carbon fiber body work (which was honestly the best option after considering the price and avail of original urq panels) and the money i've spent is pretty ridiculous... but i assume none of us are into this because it's rational. perhaps, my michelle mouton fantasies have brought me down this dark road, who knows? I also own a boxster s, 996 carrera 4, and 356 super 90 and i'd sell any of these cars in a heartbeat before getting rid of my orange monster. Mr.FRU-T-Pants 02-25-2008, 12:23 PM That had to hurt. I got a good visual of your accident. There is no such thing as "rational" with UrQ's. It's all about the love as you know. Best of luck with the reconstruction. Maybe take it to the track a few times before carving up PCH or the canyons? Definitely the opposite animal from a P-car, with the weight distribution flip-flopped. 996's(esp C4's), are so much more predictable in turns. I imagine you HAVE spent a good bit if it's been at 2B. They ain't cheap in NorCal. But nothing about these cars is cheap anymore. Cheers, fishyfishfish 02-25-2008, 01:13 PM You're absolutely right. I was just so eager to see what it could do that I pulled a completely rookie and knucklehead move -- the weird thing was that as soon as i went to turn the car, i knew i was screwed, tried to tap the breaks a bit with my left foot to see if i could get the fronts to bite, but it was long gone -- doubt the huge turbo lag then pulse right before the turn helped much either! I used to live on PCH in malibu and one of my favorite weekend excursions was to add a little air to the rear tires of my 356, let some air out of the fronts, and go on a "sliding tour" of the canyons, playing with the rear end which was so predictable at slow speeds in that light of a car... the urq is such a different beast. Anyway, I appreciate your sympathy, and advice, and i hope to see a bunch of you guys at audi southern and northern cal track events once the car is done. 5cylinderman 02-28-2008, 12:46 PM I saw your car at 2bennett and Ken was telling me the story about your car but that was close to a year ago. You have full a/c, Mars red and I thought he said you were running close to 400 HP with the AAN. Nice car, I hope you get it back soon. villainS4 02-29-2008, 06:00 AM drive in stock form...it was more a sense of satisfaction that i finally had one after wanting one since i was about 10. it certianly didnt perform all that great, smelled bad inside due to rotten carpeting, suspension sucked, apparently my subframes were all messed up, and was way slower than anything else i drive...but still great...for me anyway. but even as much as i loved having it, in that form...i would keep the 996 every day of the week. I am expecting that in its proper shape, that i wouldnt let it go for anything. Shavedquattro 03-02-2008, 12:43 AM Wait, sean has one I supose... So I went out with them!!! It was a pretty good feeling to bring out a 400+ URQ that could rip on an RS4 or a 911 turbo... I think I hav some pictures somewhere of that meet!!! Stick with it, the grins are worth the while!!!!\\Hank fishyfishfish 03-03-2008, 07:25 PM Yeah, it's been awhile, but the time span didn't seem so bad (at first) because ken and andrew are such cool guys and i enjoyed taking trips up the coast through big sur in my other cars to come and "visit" my urq... hoping ken can be a part of the project again as it's really his vision with the carbon fiber panels and all... Thanks for the inspiration though! |
