Anyone out there have any pics of a 20vt sitting in a Ur with the intercooler mounted in front of the radiator? Just trying to get some ideas on piping and curious to see what setups others have used.
Thanks
Brandon

Not to jack your thread with a newbie question... But what Intake mani do most prefer for the swap ???? 3B or AAN
Thanks

Assuming that you are looking for a relatively stock configuration.

Not really, I plan to make pretty decent power when all said and done. Is the problem more for IC placement or other crowding of the bay ??? I may just go with aftermarket but am slowly trying to stock up swap parts if they come up cheap.

AAN and rad occupy the same 'space', making fitting a problem.

To get around that problem, , some modify the AAN manifold (welding), or deal with the rad issue in some creative manner.

are you not concerned with the intercooler blocking air flow to the radiator?

If you go with an intercooler in the stock location, you use a 3B, ABY or ADU type intake manifold. If you go with a front mount intercooler, you need a manifold like a Sport quattro, modified AAN or 034.

You would do well to start planning what you want in the end. If a relatively stock appearing setup and 400 or so horsepower is enough, keeping the intercooler where it is, upsizing it and ducting it properly will be the most reasonable priced and require the least modification to the car.

If you have good fabrication skills and facilities and plenty of money to spend, anything is possible. My guess is that by asking these questions that probably isn't the case. While getting the 20Vt engine may be easy, the devil is in the details. Do a search in this forum and you should be able to find all the info that you need.

No I dont want that and will most likely go with a front mount. Still in the parts gathering phase but I had a chance to pick up a cheap AAN IM. I think I'm going to pass. Thanks for all the help guys. Are there any strictly 20vt swap into Ur-q threads that anyone knows of off hand ?? I've searched and found a ton of others Audi models but not strictly the Ur. Again sorry for all the redundant newbie questions.

The AAN manifold can be used in an urquattro, the radiator must be skewed so that the intake piping runs in front of the radiator.

The intercooler is best put in front of the bumper chin unless you are using a different grill.

The 3B intake manifold is your best bet with an RR Airbox. Then use a FMIC mounted low slung across the front under the bumper. or revise teh front grill and mount it across the front.

Thats all good to know..I have the 20vt in there right now with the 3b man. but I also have in the basement a AAN man. and I have a bracket with the intercooler mounted in front of the radiator right now. My problem is fabricating piping and getting it to work with the tight spaces. If I use the AAN I can easily make a short connection, with the 3b I have to route all the way back to the other side which seems a bit wasteful. I will look into swinging the rad. a bit to as I think thats my best bet.
Thanks for the tips,
Brandon

Great looking car, can't wait for the update. Loving the RS2 intake.
