I was wondering if Garret offers a complete ECU box with a chip? If yes, does
anybody know the price on it?

Thanx for your help!!!!!

Yes, Garrett does offer a seperate ecu with their chip. I don't know the price, though. I had my Garrett chipped installed by Todd @ AWE in Philly. Total cost $400, but, he did ask me if i wanted the extra ecu (i declined). I don't think the my2000 chips are ready yet. Give Todd a call at 215-753-8203, a real nice guy (very knowledgable).

Can you give me some insight on your experience with it, and is it making a
ping sound that everyone is talking about?

They do, it was $689 (I think). The chip is great, and we have had no problems with pinging or maladaption. The only concern I would have is whether it is compatible with a MY2K A4 because of the drive by wire system. HTH.

I had my Garrett chip installed early September. I have not experienced any pinging in my car. I use Sunoco or Mobil 93 octane gas. My wife and i take alot of trips up to Connecticut (lots of long steep hills) and we have not heard anything. My A4 is a tip (by the way). I have not had any problems with my Garrett chip (1 Bar). Best $400 i've ever spent on a car.

Since I'm shopping for a chip (with spare ECU) myself, I checked out the two sites for which Al very helpfully provided links. The Garrett site says "ECU must be sent in....PRICE: 1 bar chips $400 ($500 for non-US/Canada)....Complete programmed ECUs from AWE." The AWE site, however, doesn't mention complete ECUs in its online price list for Audi products. So as Al suggested, a call to AWE would be in order to find out about that.
