On Sunday afternoon I was on a 5 hour drive in my 99.5 1.8Tqm (has 2,750 miles on it). I had just getting off a turnpike ramp and had stopped at the toll both. When the car in front of me drove off I stepped on the gas and let out the clutch and the following occured. My car began to shake, clang (like metal banging against metal) no RPM increase only shakking and banging!! I though I just didn't get on the gas quick enough but I don't think so now. I have only stalled my 5 speed manual once in 2,750 miles. I imediatelly depressed the clutch and tried to give it a little gas. It seemed like forever but I'm sure it only was 2 to 3 seconds and the engine responded. No warning light all gauges in normal operating range. The girl in the toll both asked "Is your car ok". I think the noises were very loud!! Needless to say I was a little embarassed because at the time I though it was my doings but now I'm not so sure. Could my non chipped 1.8T have gone crazy for a few second. All has been perfect since and this was the only occurance. Anyone have any explanations??
Thanks
