<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/53920/urtitleregeditd.jpg"></center><p>lots to state, but ill stick with the fun stuff for now, cause i could go on for pages..
so it started in june or july on ebay with the car for sale in montreal, my best friend in the marines pressuring me to buy it for him until hes back for OCS, and a beautiful friend that by chance had her family reunion to attend the weekend i told the seller i'd be there to pick it up. GREATNESS!!
so i went through hell for a couple days figuring out and rounding up all that was needed for the pickup... forms, finances, donor dash&tools...
got a ride with one of the most beautiful girls ive ever known(4 hour trip felt like 20minutes) and dropped with the car&seller in montreal.
then off to the ?majestry of transportation? (canadian DMV).. &the clerks were at least 10X as efficient as the fools at pennDOT.
..anyways, they were not willing at first to let me register because they knew i was american and said that customs would not let me pass back into the US with temporary tags. ...after a few tense moments and repeating f**kf**kf**k in my head many times i convinced the kind ladies to let me risk it and get my temp tags anyways(only valid for 5 days BTW)..
success,so far, then to the parking lot temp tags, receipts&paperwork abound in hand...
from there i did something shady... y'see in order to get the forms filled out properly(or so i thought) i had to prove that the car could read in MPH... well the canadian ur only reads KPH... so the day before i left i disassembled my own 4ks' dash and took the whole cluster with me to canada and a wholle bunch of tools(sorry guys, those awesome pics are currently MIA)... once in the mall parking lot, i took both dash clusters completely apart ***just so i could swap the faceplates*** y'know the part in between the needle and odometer.. the needle rises with speed, just not calibrated :))) then i put the dash back together and with louie-alexandres'(canadian seller) 'youre crazy and have big balls' wishes,, off to customs i went..
soo, once i got to customs, no one gave a f'k about my temp tags or the 3 forms i needed to fill out in order to get the certificate of conformity from AoA, or my carpal tunneld fingers from shady dash dealings.. kind of cool because i could pass through the border, but not cool because i needed customs stamps&signatures in order to get the COC (or so i was told)...
in reality, AoA wont issue the CoC until they get sent, personal contact info, vin#, engine fam# &registration in my name..
AND customs wont sign off until they see that certificate..
so in theory, its a risk, because you cant get the certificate until you purchase the vehicle and could wind up with a unlegalable car..
BIG UP! to tim leforest at AoA for his help through the proceedings, wich at times were tense when i was told they couldnt verify certain numbers due to age... you dont ever want to hear words like cant,sorry,wont,etc.. out of the audi reps mouth when going through this,,, i almost **** myself several times..
well eventually i got the certificate of conformity and immediately went to a AAA office where a local VW/audi head had hooked me up with his aunt... because of this, its quite possible that the dash investigation was more laxidasical than would have been otherwise..
also i used my jedimindtricks to get a local college french professor to translate the canadian reg. for FREE .. another pennDOT stipulation.. some translators wanted almost $200 just to translate a dozen or so phrases.. and BTW i offered to make a donation for the professor and he declined.
so then back to AAA where a bunch of forms were mailed to harrisburg... i was warned that it usually doesnt get accepted on the first try...
well, the day before h2o, with my urS fresh out of commission from a cracked clutch pedal assembly, i got the plates from marsha at AAA specially noted by the staff as being the fastest turnaround ever seen for an import.
in the words of pootie tang. !!WA-DA-TAH!!!
well im sure im forgetting some more fun stuff that i could clarify if need be, but im done with typing for now, hope you enjoyed the read, im certainly enjoying the ur.
