From what I know Schmidt Motorsport was using this setup. It looks like assembly from Porsche 928 early yers or from Mercedes V8 (6.9 ???)I was also told that was developing serious HP and drivability was good. Pictures could show two different setup's with two different air flows directions but idea is same. Any body has more info's on this setup?

http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/50234/05050518.jpg</a

It just seems totally retarded to add to the HUGE heat problem by running the plumbing over the turbo. Plus there's no reason to change the factory set anyway unless your shooting for better tuning or power exceeding 400hp.

There's one that shows up at LRP Vintage weekend, not sure if it has that CIS set up.

if the aim was more fuel, thats a fuel distributer from a MB.i have seen that on other rally cars but they used all 8 injecters on a 4 cyln.it must be an early mod, before newer electronic injection was available.

I just would like to mention that A1 and A2 rally cars had plumbing done exactly this way.Is this "stupid", well I have faith in Audi engineers.

No, they as professionals use Kevlar ducting. My self I ask group for a feed back on concept not a workman ship. In regards to pumping heat from exhaust manifold I see the issue as follow - majority of the heat pumpt to charge air is introduced in compressor. I am sure that some type of thermodynamic study was conducted and perhaps, again just perhaps Audi engineers came to conclusion that it is no big deal since all this heat is introduced before intercooler. Also since 10 valve Urquattro engine is not cross flow engine there is not to many choices to run plumbing in more eficient way. It must be something (I do not know what )to it since even on Sport Quattro and S1 air is drawn to engine same way.

Put them to use and we'll see what happens. You should easily surpass what I accomplished on the dyno and track using CIS and a 10 valve.
