Hi!

I'm a newbie to the list and a newbie '87 Quattro
Wagon owner. Love the car, but we got our 1st snow here in Tahoe and the drivers door handle is not working. I never felt it snap or break, and it'll still open fine from the inside. Questions:
A) Is it possible dampness would cause this, or does the handle need to be replaced? B) How do I get the door panel off to take a look see? C) Assuming that question can't be answered here, or even if it can, is the "Audi Automotive Repair Manual" by John Haynes good? If not whadaya suggest?

Thanks,

BW

I've owned four Audi's and four VW's that use that style door handle. I think I've ended up replacing them on half the cars I've owned. Not to expensive or difficult a job to do. I just purchased a pair of all metal (not plastic) handles that look like they might fit my 83 UrQ. Not sure what they came off of, but they do have the VW/Audi logo on them. -Mike-

Thanks. The part is on its way, but I expect more trouble in the Tahoe winter the way those handles
stick out, catch snow, melt it, and then freeze it over night. Aside from lubbing 'em, any way to winter-proof those handles? Or should I just order a few more right now ;-( ...?
