i know importing is a pita, but that aside, where could i find a european UrQ or SQ (did they even make a euro spec SQ?). i dont read much german anymore, so english is a plus :)

Yeah, once in a while a euro-spec urq will pop up for sale force 5 had one for sale a while back, you can still view it on thier web page.
The euro-specs in the U.S. and Canada are usually the early models '81'82.
An Audi freak in Canada managed to bring in an urq from the fatherland and he tells the tale on his cool web page.
His name is Martin, and I beleive the web page is called Martin's urq page, or someting of the sort.
The state of Virginia has rather laxxed foregin car importation rules, compared to other states so check out thier site.
The car must pass DOT saftey, and EPA smog tests for the model year (you would have to switch the bumpers, headlights, add a cat, and other stuff depending on the year.)Alot of home work is required.
