View Full Version : 4000CS quattro dash and URQ dash fusilier 11-04-2002, 10:00 AM Same thing? They look the same but can I put the 4000CS dash in a UrQ? Anyone BTDT? snoogins 11-04-2002, 11:26 AM fusilier 11-04-2002, 01:36 PM in a junkyard here in Austin. urq20vt 11-04-2002, 01:56 PM Assuming that this is a '85+ 4kq and an '83 urq, you will need to splice the ur q harness to the 4kq switches. This is not a big deal, but it is VERY helpful to have the Bentley manual for the 4kq/CGT/Urq. There is a couple of subtle differences in the wiring of the switches (not just the connectors) that you need to take into acount. Also, get the bracket under the rear shifter mount from the 4kq. You will need this to mount the console properly. Steve Evilclown 11-04-2002, 09:57 PM Which is why the original 4kq only had front power windows. fusilier 11-05-2002, 05:45 AM This junker 4Kq Is probably a 85-86 cause the rear diff is the 5kq style. The dash looks very similar more like a later style coupe GT dash. Still good to go? snoogins 11-05-2002, 06:59 AM Ken CGT 11-06-2002, 03:36 PM Hey james, you should know that the 4kq dash fits because you have one in your Rallye Q. Now to clear up a few things about doing the conversion. First off if you are doing a dash conversion on a Urq you need to find a 4kq (which is different then the 4k/CGT's) because of the center console differences. The larger center tunnel, to incorporate the quattro's driveshaft, means that the center console is smaller. The upper dashes of all the 4k/CGT's are the same so if you find a 4kq that has a bad dash grab the center console and find a better dash from a 4k/CGT. Now everything that urq20vt said is true you are going to need the connectors from the 4k in order to make the conversion work. Obviously urq20vt has done this before. Now, if you are planning on getting the dash from AustinVeeDub then you are going to be raceing Jimmy for the dash, I found the car a few weeks ago and told jimmy about it. Jimmy wants it but has been to busy with stuff to go down here and pull it. What price did they give you because I had to talk them down a little. fusilier 11-06-2002, 09:28 PM Ken, I haven't even talked to the guys at Veedub, whatever $$ it is, it is. I was out there on Monday walking the premises in the rain and saw the 4000CSQuattro up on blocks. So its the same one jimmy wants. I didn't know he wanted it or knew about it. My dash isn't that bad compared to his(if I remember right). Is he going to get it? I was going to pull it this Saturday. If he wants it no problem. You guys want to meet up and get it this weekend?
