where can i find a replacement wiring harness? cost really isnt an issue, because im gonna be doing a frame up custom on a UrQ.

well, i was just looking for a supplier more or less. i will probably be getting a sport quattro at some point, and i will end up with a UrQ and some other stuff before that. just wondering in general if there's any place to buy a complete replacement harness.

other used Audi parts places.

When it comes to ur qs, most of this stuff is NLA from dealers or VERY expensive. I have a receipt for a new $400 dash harness that I received with the $20k of repair receipts from the previous owners of my ur q.

There are four major harnesses in a US ur q as well as four or five minor harnesses, with more in the Euro cars with their ABS, voice and Auto Check systems. There are subtle differences in each year, and major differences between '83 and '84. While some CGT harnesses are close, like the rear harness, they are not the same.

FWIW, I priced some 20V ur q harnesses in Germany a while back. Engine harness? $1400. ABS harness? $1400. I ended up buying a wrecked 20V ur q to get the stuff from. Good luck finding another BTW.

Unless a harness burned or was hacked up severely, there is really nothing that can't be repaired. All the terminals and most of the connector housings are readily available either from Audi or Amp/Tyco.

The design of the harnesses in the early ur qs like we got in US leave much to be desired anyway, so even if you got a new replacement, chances are that you would want/need to do repairs/upgrades to keep it reliable anyway.
