I understand that the UrQ is a fine and rare machine, and that if I don't act now, another Audi fanatic will snatch it up. The lowdown on it, is it's a 1983 UrQ, Port Rose Metallic, but the guy is selling it because it doesn't run. Now, if it's a dog, I don't want it. However, if it's fixable, I just might pester my dad into scooping it up. The price wasn't listed, it was an OBO deal. Would it be worth the time and effort to fix it up, or would it be a pain and a headache in order to get it to excellent condition? I've read a whole lot about these cars, and I would surely love to drive if not own one. Plus, my dad drove my CGT after drving his 5000, and he's a little jealous, says he wasnts a Coupe of his own ;) Also, would any parts come off of the UrQ that I could utilize in the CGT? Any help would be appreciated, and I plan on going to look at it sometime in the next week.

There is not too much that transfers from the cgt to the ur-quattro or vice versa. As a matter of fact, it is only about 10% of the parts, if that, are interchangable. If I were you find someone who knows a great deal about urqs and find out what is wrong, cost to fix and all that. If there are electrical bugs, you could be in for a looooong headache. Better to find one that is running well, in awesome shape and pay more for it, because it is cheaper. (opinion)
Good luck to you.....

It depend on how good you are with cars. Getting the car running again is the easy part most of hte time it is a vacum leak (20 year old hoses). But Urq's are very expensive and will have other problems just becuase of its age. Even if you buy a $18,000 Ur you will still have problems with it, it's the nature of the beast. The car is 20 years old and rust combinded with old/bad wiring will have you busy restoring it more then mantaining it. It take a lot of time and money to own a Urq and if you know nothing about them it is just that much harder. So, my advice to you is buy a simple car like a 4kq or another CGT for you dad and let him have fun with it. Don't get me wrong Urq's are great fun, when they are running. With that said I perosnaly own an Ur and love it. My car is a rust bucket and not much to look at but I got her very very cheap. My brother also has one as well as our to friends that live in the area. But we are Audi nuts and like to spend the weekends with our car instead of our girlfriends/wifes.
I would go take a look at if just to see what the deal is maybe the car had been keep indoors and is the find of the centry.
