Has anyone out there done this conversion. My turbo seals went about a month ago, and I thought this might be a good way to avoid that sort of thing from happening in the future. How hard/easy is it to do, and should I take the time and modify the IC as well?

I did it last year. It's a little bit of work. you need the turbo and oil/water lines form a 1985 5ooo turbo. This way you can keep the twin filter set up. Plus you need a freeze plug with a nipple on it and a water neck from an I5 with a wtaer cooled turbo already.
