I a coupe lover ie. scirocco, corrado, quattro coupe, 318ti ect.
I want to get a URq and was wondering what I can expect to pay, I want one loaded w/ leather, power ect. I know they're quite rare and almost bought one, but bought the rocco instead, that was in mint cond in and outside for 1000 clams.
All it needed was a secondary radiator and probably some other tune up and maintence things. (Flame suit taken OFF for not buying it)
I'm NOT looking for one someone hacked up nor a pristene model, a little mechanical TLC is cool.
So what am I looking to spend? And I want a clean body/interior.

I know I'm picky but don't want one some ford mechanic "Did a little electrical work to"

PS is there any thing specific to these cars to look out for ie: hacked electrical work.
Also are most mechanical parts interchangable w/the 4K turbo?

Well,
You can expect to pay anywhere from $3000-$20000 depending on condition. Bottom line is, you don't want one that is at the $3000 end of the spectrum. Clean body and interior with mechanical condition to go with it would probably run you at least $10000.
To address your other points:
1. First, there was no 4000 turbo.
2. Yes, some parts are interchangable with various 4000's, 5000's, FWD coupes
3. Many parts are NOT interchangeable and will cost a lot of money. This car is nothing at all like a Scirocco, especially when it comes to cost of parts. The only things it has on common are that it has 2 doors and 4 wheels.
4. On the early cars at least, the electrical system is generally a joke. If it has not been worked on, expect to need to do so.
5. They are pretty much all loaded. I believe all had leather and power everything in the US. Remember, this thing cost almost $40K in 1983. I believe that is more than a 911 cost at the time.
6. I don't know what part of the country you're in, but many of them are starting to show a bit of rust.
The bottom line is, This is not a car for the average "coupe-lover" This car will need to have a dedicated owner with semi-bottomless pockets. I'm not trying to be negative, just realistic.
On the other hand, I would love to have one myself. Everybody, I may have made some errors above, please correct me if you know better.
Hope this helps,
Jim

I know its not like a scirocco
longitude mounted 4cly 16v FWD vs lat mounted 5 cyl 10V awd.
I was saying they look alot a like, theres a 4k turbo FS in the paper I thought it was normal car, must be a typo or a custom.
I probably going to wait for that one that sat in a dry barn since 1989, with olny 50K mi......for $1000 obo. I wish.

First off, i bought my 83 Ur-quat at the begining of the summer for 2000$ (a total steal) it needs a new interior, all new wiring, maybe a new MAC-02
ignition computer (that alone is out of your price range, lol) paint, tires, rotors, pads, clutch master cylinder, and a fuel pump (200$)
I already put more than 500$ and 40 hours work into the car and it still dont run,
There are less than 200 ur-quattros left in this country. (plus a couple of 82' canadian cars)
TQC's arent the kind of car you find in a newspaper, there the kind of car you find in an exotic car dealer. SO FOR GOD SAKES, DONT U EVER COMPARE MY CAR TO A PIECE OF SHI# SCIROCCO

hehehe
