I have a single knock sensor 10v turbo that I'd like to get near 300 hp. It's currently around 230 with a chip, filter, and catless exhaust. I'm planning to do a Blau cam and timing gear, and a larger intercooler (currently a UrQ unit), but I've been told beyond those mods the stock fuel system runs out of juice. Should I switch to another computer? Bigger injectors (ie VW Digifonts), twin fuel pumps? Also, has anyone used Magnecor plug wires? Any experience/info you've got would be very helpful. Thanks!

What year engine? I have run MC's up to 330hp with stock injectors and fuel pump. How much low end do you want (i.e. power onset at 3600rpm or 4K)? I used Taylor wires with American style ends and an early dist. cap.

so it's got the MAC 11 computer, single knock sensor, etc etc. I would prefer some more low end grunt, which is why I'd like to put in a cam and timing gear. I'd like to hear more about the mods you've done. You can email me at
ajtippie@netscape.net if that's easier for you. Thanks

A performance cam would eliminate what low end you have. You could get some of that back with an adjustable cam sprocket, but how much depends on what cam you run.
You can't get 300hp AND more low end grunt with that engine. A higher compression 2.5L block would do it, but a 20VT swap is probably easier. Those are really easy to get to 300hp with torque down low.
I made it up to 250hp with the low end that you have now, but after that it starts to get really slow down low and really fast up high. You have to trade one for the other. The cam is the last thing that I did, and would do again, because it has the largest effect on the low end. What you can do is run the later K24 turbo with an appropriate chip. That should get you as much as 275hp and will bring the boost in sooner.
