View Full Version : Check this out... AudiSport4000 11-10-2008, 06:41 PM Not a fan of the paint, but its an LE!

http://maine.craigslist.org/ctd/904044532.html</a

casem 11-10-2008, 09:41 PM I've never been a fan of "wrong color resprays". teach 11-11-2008, 04:15 AM The only LE colors I have ever seen were sapphire metallic and zermatt silver. I've seen THREE brochures/ads about the '84 4KSLE, and only ONE of them (might be the one you have, Mike) mentioned a third color...and I do believe it was oceanic blue. Even if it is an original color, that one does look a bit dark....might be a repaint, might just be the picture quality. That could be good if it is a good quality repaint, bad if it is a cheap job, was done over rust or bad bodywork, or is not quite the right color (or not the original color at all!). It could be a fun car. It isn't quite close enough for me to go check out for you, but if you are VERY interested, I might be able to help find someone to do it. AudiSport4000 11-11-2008, 04:21 AM Yeah, that def does not look like an original color at all. The only two colors I know of that came along with the LE trim was Zermatt and Sapphire. I didnt think oceanic came about until 85 or 86, could be wrong though. I like coming across these things, you dont see too many LE's around. 87 4ks 11-11-2008, 04:42 AM I am assuming it is an LE because it is a 4cyl fwd with a quattro spoiler, black trim (again, IIRC), and somewhat sporty seats. It's been a while since I have seen it. AudiSport4000 11-11-2008, 05:13 AM Sapphire is the color my old 4k LE was, is it darker than that? What colors were available in 84? I do not know off hand... teach 11-11-2008, 11:55 AM Page two of the brochure lists zermatt, sapphire, and oceanic, although as I said, any that I've ever seen have been zermatt or sapphire. It might have been a color (officially) introduced in '85, since the 4000SLE was produced halfway through the model year, which is why it has the full driver's door windows (no vent windows) like the '85-'87 models. Just buy it! AudiSport4000 11-11-2008, 12:48 PM I had to pull out the brochure to verify. Looks like I have been wrong in saying they were only Zermatt and Sapphire. Now in the pictures that car doesnt look Oceanic, or am I wrong there as well? To this day I STILL kick myself for passing on a $200 84 LE, 1 owner, ALL service records from Audi (maintinence performed by my favorite Audi tech too). He even recommended me to buy the car from them!!!!! I was such a dufus. *pounds head on desk* It was even a 5spd car from a family that owned other Audi's. At leas I still have pictures of it to remind me of my stupidity. 87 4ks 11-11-2008, 12:51 PM It is darker than the one in your pic poster. 4000fixes 11-11-2008, 02:16 PM Pretty close colors aye? 4000fixes 11-11-2008, 02:18 PM AudiSport4000 11-11-2008, 02:32 PM Pretty cool stuff though, Id love to see a picture of an Oceanic LE! A4wheelin 11-11-2008, 05:34 PM That 4000 looks a little darker though. I like it! audithepeanut 11-11-2008, 08:33 PM AudiSport4000 11-12-2008, 05:21 AM audithepeanut 11-12-2008, 08:39 PM |
