View Full Version : So about Carlisle... 4000fixes 01-25-2008, 07:55 PM Since this is my first time going...anyone want to enlighten me on what to expect? How stuff goes down? Alpine 87.5 01-25-2008, 08:47 PM Audi wise = a large cook out, beer, coool cars, and the greatest people you will EVER meet. squidix9 01-26-2008, 06:13 AM More or less.. Arrive mid-day Friday. Setup camp site or check into hotel. Bring car to display area and meet everyone. Check-in with Morgan. Meet for group dinner around 5ish. Go back to Audi display area for campfire at night. Saturday. Car show, bring car to display area. Hang out there with everyone and wander around the grounds checking out all the other cars. The event has seminars and sessions throughout the day. Cookout around midday. Leftovers and work on eating more food around dinner time. BIG campfire Saturday night. Sunday finish checking out the other cars, wander around the flea market area. Pack up and head home at some point. There's an autox/driving clinic on Saturday too. A lot of mfg's display areas. The grandstand has a good number of food stands and the flea market is pretty big. It mostly has British parts though, not much for Audi. A lot of wholesale tool stands, and sunglasses booths. You can mill around and look at the other stuff there, or you can marinate around our section and drink some beers. All types of people from all ages and we all get along. It's a good time for all folks. --morgan boxerfan 01-26-2008, 07:21 AM

Here's a great shot of some of the R & R. I trust Frank doesn't mind the use of the image from his poster.... Funnels UP! stevenmurray 01-26-2008, 07:28 AM 85-4kq-girl 01-26-2008, 07:30 AM so that's from a sitting position! Frank looks more majestic (as do the glorious beer bubbles) in the BIG pic: --morgan audithepeanut 01-26-2008, 08:02 AM squidix9 01-26-2008, 10:22 AM With all the cars and liability I would guess not. But everyone sitting around 'glowing' has the same effect. squidix9 01-26-2008, 10:27 AM when I got up around 4am to use the bathroom. Actually I was terribly amused at his expense. Boxer...we meet Friday morning and caravan down together. We meet up at the Pembroke rest area on the 90E around the 400mi marker. Whitjr 01-27-2008, 05:04 AM In keeping with my point-of-view that all light beers are a total waste of time, this lager is NOT a lightweight. Just help me bring it back empty. OK? I was asleep at 4am. I think you mistake me for one of the young fellows maybe? :-) I *know* when to stop my beer drinking! It wasn't you who had the visitior 'late at night', looking for his own tent, was it? I heard that someone had an adventure of some sort like that. but it wasn't me! 85-4kq-girl 01-27-2008, 07:21 AM Alpine 87.5 01-27-2008, 07:52 AM Alpine 87.5 01-27-2008, 07:53 AM 4000fixes 01-27-2008, 03:34 PM boxerfan 01-27-2008, 04:57 PM Sheesh.. too many BEER terms/phrases in that subject line! Now I need to find my tent and sleeping bags... and then someone to help keep me warm! And hopefully the Q will be fully operational... I'll probably cheat and stay at my brother's place in Ridgeway on Thursday night so I can get into the line up with all of the bus tour folks at Tim Horton's (last year there was a 20-30 min. wait). You can call me on my cell to place an order ;-) ....and no, I'm not offering you a tent or a warm body. Cheers! Max'sCoupeGT 01-28-2008, 04:23 PM You came crawling out of your tent and we talked for like 10 minutes. You were hammered. squidix9 01-28-2008, 05:51 PM No late night visitors for me. Not last year, but the year before I got up at 4am to go to the bathroom and you were wandering around up towards the bathroom with the guy who came down with you with the 4k he had just finished putting it together. I forget his name. You were....amusing. squidix9 01-28-2008, 05:52 PM Katman 01-29-2008, 10:50 AM Ok, Mark.. You got me, I think.. Maybe.. Your details sort of confirm that it may be true, but *I* don't remember that! I do think that I would have been partied out and sleepiong LONG before 4am though.. (I *am* getting on in years you know! :-) squidix9 01-29-2008, 07:09 PM I do recall talking to you at some point Sunday morning and you seemed pretty good. |
