The Frau seems to be taking to her new CV boot and repacked CV joint quite well. Humming along quite nicely on the highway, now ~200 miles later. With the Gislaved's, she really handles great in the snow though I don't think the diff lock is working.

Today I put a little oil in the engine at the filling station and noticed that one of the power steering fluid hoses is dripping slowly. Guess I'll need to top up. From searching the archives, it looks like plain old ATF(dextron), as opposed to the liquid green gold Pentosin my 200 used to require.

Unfortunately, as I added oil I dripped some. Whose bright idea was it to put the exhaust header directly below the oil fill cap? The resulting odor is quite something.

once it got really big.. a really hard stomp on the brakes would send the wholeee thing flowing onto the exhaust manifold.. first time it happened i thought my engine imploded

Some late build 1987 cars did come with Pentosin pre-filled from the factory complete with a warning sticker not to use anything else. The power steering system is the same though. I wouldn't mix ATF and Pentosin if I could avoid it.
