Drive by wire means one less mechanical component to break (assuming that Audi thinks its electronics are better than its mechanicals -- kind of scary thought). I've experienced no difficulty with it on my S4. The only problem may be that under full braking, throttle will automatically be cut no matter how much throttle you're giving it.

Just like the new Vettes have. When you add stability control, the car can override the throttle and with yaw and slip sensors determine if more or less throttle is needed.

And eventually if OBD III gets passed, the cops can use an RF signal to see that you are driving too fast, stop your car safely and ticket you. Or a thief with the cops' equipment could stop your car safely, shoot you, and then take your car.

Big brother isn't coming, he's here.

In one of the past issuess of the Auto Industries (great magizine about the Auto industry) They said that when the 42V electrical systems start happing in Cars & Trucks,(DC 2002, with VW & Ford 2003) you will see, Brake by Wire, as well as Steer by wire! So if your elecrical system dies when your doing 100mph, so do you! Scary if you ask me.

Though the Drive by wire makes you wonder if Stability control will be a option on the 2000.5 A4

Can't we clean up the language?
