I have a better one: I was stopped on a steep hill in san francisco last night, and was in 2nd gear (didn't know it). Let off the brake, feathered the clutch, and the RPMS came up to 5000 before I got going.

Smelled the clutch all the way home.

you didn't hurt a thing... come on man, enjoy your ride. Watch your tac... keep it out of the red zone (the red zone is for loading and unloading only...)

Don't beat the thing to death but break it in the way you plan on driving it...

Want to get really blown away... watch these folks go out on their test drives from the local dealership... nice cold motors, zipo miles, and they're being flogged by these wanna be Alex Zanardis! When I took my test drive the sales dude told me to stand on it the minute we turned our of the lot... I suggested we wait until the oil and water gauges stepped off their pegs...

Go ahead... live a little... run that sucker up to 5k once and ahile!

My test drive the sales guy took a Silver 99 all the way up as we ran through the area outside the lot. Almost scared me (just kidding). and he encouraged me to do the same when it was my turn, wasn't as aggressive though. Besides he had jsu come from autocrossing an S4!!
But hey, have fun with the car, can't wait to take mine "up there", if I ever get back home...
