I was wondering, how many of you have Sunroofs? I got a really great deal on my 99.5 2.8QMS, from the dealer (Audi North Atlanta) everything but Conv. and Trip. What if anything am I missing, I hear the car's actually more rigid without the roof.. My previous car '98 Jetta GT had one..

Any thoughts??

I could never go back to not having one. I love it. Without one I feel clostrophobic (sp?).

The only drawback is that you sacrifice about an inch of headroom, so if you're really tall or plan to race it, it may not be a good idea.

on a cool and sunny day. Never sweated headroom. All of 5'2" soaking wet.

On my previous two Audis I had one. I never used it. When it was open all the way the - sun was right in my face. When it was open in "up" position - it was just noisy and no air flow. Sunroofs tend to break, so I didn't get it. And I think the car body is more stable without one. Not to mention that they are expensive!

My integra has a sun roof. Almost never use it. Ordered 00 1.8TQTSX without sunroof.

Had it on all my cars and used it all the time. To me, the car would feel naked without a sunroof.

After having sunroofs in the past and having trouble with every one of them, I passed on
the conv pkg when ordering my '00 1.8T. Other reasons? It's expensive (to buy and to fix), it generally cuts into headroom, and probably the biggest reason, at least for me, is that our third car is a Miata. If I want some sun on a nice day, I want the whole top down, not just a little slit.

If it were a no-cost option I'd probably take it, but I wouldn't (and didn't) spend any money on it.

IMHO, but good luck finding one without one. Same thing with BMWs. In this price/perceived image range, it's expected -- like leather.

I once suggested on a BMW test drive that if I were to get one, I might skip the sunroof. The salesdude blanched noticeably and said that it would have to be a special order fully paid for in advance, because he could never sell a car like that if I changed my mind.

They cut into headroom, require the use of sunblock and create noise. I would pay extra not to have one.

Pros: obvious - you can open the thing, tilt is great even in winter to get some heater-free air, and it makes the inside brighter = "bigger".

Cons: 99% of all squeaks and noises in my car come from the sunroof or the sun shade.

Would never even consider having a car w/o one, even with all the squeaks (and I am anal that way).
