Trying to replace the outer CV boots and I'll be danged if I can see any kind of a circlip inside the outer CV...It went together at some point so it's gotta come apart right? Argh. Beer time.

I just kept hitting mine from the back with a rubber mallet until it popped off. The circle clip is inside the CV joint, about 1/4" from the end of the axle... you just have to hit it enough to push it over the clip basically.

Alrighty then, back to the whack-job.

just make sure you get a good hold of the driveshaft so you're not pulling against the inner CV joint when you hit it.
