And shiny!

Bumper cover and rear vent cover came back today from the body shop. Paint matches pretty well overall, can't complain considering it's 21 years newer. Bumper cover amazingly mounted up despite minor "issues" from the previous driver running into something. The cover isn't quite square - it's pushed out a bit on the passenger side and a tad bit lower on the passenger side, but pretty reasonable, especially for a race car.

Here goes:

As you can see, the orders to retain the matte black upper finish weren't translated very well :-( but I still like it.

...to get the twists and bends out of the bumper cover.

Heat it up until it's hot to touch on the opposite side and it should almost fix it's self as you heat it up. If not, gently "caress" the bumps out.

Question for you. Did you remove the inside Steel girder of the front and rear bumper covers? I want to remove mine, to help out the power to weight ratio.

It's not steel, and it weighs only about 5 lbs.

Without it, there isn't much of a way to make the bumper retain its shape.

Believe me, I looked at it for a long time and took apart one trying to figure out how to cut weight. In the end, I managed to cut weight, but I'm not telling how :-)

It's the mounting points that have bent.

Thanks for the advice, though.

I blistered the paint trying to remove the adhesive where the door molding came off.

It's the thin line to the left in the photo, but not to worry - they're going to be covered by tape.
