finally got the pre-production sample from the machine shop of the A4 short shifter and here are the specs:
- 20% reduction in throw
- only 1 ft. lb. increase in shifting effort from 3rd to Neutral (from 3.5 ft. lbs to 4.5 ft. lbs)
- still smooth shifting like factory
- some shifting vagueness eliminated
- push-down reverse remains (can be eliminated)
dispite the fact that i just had my A4 1.8T towed to the dealership last night (lost ALL the colant yesterday), i was pleased with the shifter.
we're off to vegas to show the shifter to some audi folks. we'll be back with pricing information.
the shifter should be available in late november, early december for all A4s and S4s.
