I'm not sure if this has been discussed over the last few weeks, but I've been overseas in Europe railing around. Happened upon an Audi showcase in Berlin the otherday, and saw some really cool stuff!
Besides the TT, they had a '99 Audi A4 TQM that had a NAVIGATION SYSTEM!! The thing has a built in TV, Radio, etc. Also a cooler A6 type cup holder. Sport seats, and they even added some padding to the rear deck! (looks like Audi's been reading a4.org!)
Anyway, I have all the brochures. The Nav stuff is in German, the S4 brochures are in French. I had a great conversation with an American that was working there. He was so excited to be talking to a fellow US'er that he even let me buy one of the WOODEN Tiptronic Shifter Knobs! This is apparently an option of quattro Gmbh, i have a catalog of their merchandise too.
I will try to scan the Nav system pics, etc., but wanted to share. Again, sorry if this has been already discussed, so hold the flames!
But some more differences on this '99 A4.
-Silver trim on dash
-White faces to guages
-A4 emblem has a red underline on the back
-the T in 1.8T has a red highlight
-The rear lights are slightly clear in one
degradation so that turn signals actually blink
yellow instead of red.
Anyway, I'll see if the roomate wants to translate the German, and if I get industrious, I'll dust off the French to translate the S4 brochure. If someone wants to scan all this stuff, I can lend the brochures to you. Just need it back.
-joe

Joe,
Thanks again for all this neat info. I had already guessed the part about the NAV system - if you listen to your Concert Radio OEM tape (or read the manual with great care), the options (or menus) that you can scroll while changing the GALA options lists a certain NAV option - guess what for - for the navigation system. The tape says this is for the upcoming navigation system and clearly says that it doesn't do anything at the moment.
Finally - white gauges from factory. Thanks again for the info, didn't mean to sound demeaning.
Andrei.
