I'm looking for an alternitive to the $200 bosch one . The one I need has the mounting tab at 10 o'clock when looking at it from the front, it is from a CGT 87.5 . It mounts on the drivers side of the engine . A couple parts places have some , but not in stock. I don't want to order a part I can't use. The bosch part #AL31X

Find out the ampreage first. They list Coupe till 87.

This a special build with the 130 HP motor?
I don't know where to look up the half year.

MANY different part numbers and suffixes (A<F<G<H<K etc)
60 AMP 70 AMP 90 AMP etc.....tooo.........

Just take the one you have in and have it rebuilt. It's much cheaper and only takes a day.
Thats what I did with my last alternator. Only paid $65CAN to have it done.

I can't get it rebuilt anywhere in a day here .... All of Albuquerque is half asleep. It's just that this weekend it's gonna be nice , finally found out thats whats bad and I wanna get it done ! There is a VW bone-yard here thats open on sat so looks like thats where I'm spending my morning. I'll pick up a used one and get mine rebuilt in the meantime. Thanks for the help guys
