Siper2 10-31-1999, 12:13 PM Previous to this year's new models, I'd say Kenwood (even eXcelon) didn't match up to the giants like Alpine or Eclipse. However, the brand new eXcelon CD players are really quite awesome. A couple of them played even better--in my opinion--than a couple Eclipse/Alpine models I'm somewhat familiar with. A couple months ago, I planned to get rid of my old CD player, a Pioneer Premier DEH-46. I wanted something clearer-sounding. Kenwood was an option, as was Alpine (Eclipse just cost too much); finding one in my budget was no easy task though. As it happens, an Alpine CDA-7940 unit was bought and returned the next day by some customer who didn't like the colors. So it became an "out of the box" unit. Price dropped from $400+ to $229. I nabbed it! So I got lucky... and I'm now an even bigger Alpine advocate. Got some Boston Acoustics RC61 speakers, too, just last week. Love them!!! (Rally Series) I don't drive an Audi; my car's a '94 Acura Integra RS. If I were you I'd definitely listen to those eXcelons next to an Alpine/Eclipse or two. Maybe a Nakamichi, too... I hear those are great. -S2- Foo 10-31-1999, 12:47 PM DWA 10-31-1999, 02:03 PM Before you buy that K-wood, try Eclipse (http://www.eclipse-web.com/). The stuff sounds great, has a two-year warranty and you don't have to haul around a "detachable face". joemamma7 10-31-1999, 10:48 PM I had an eclispe in my jetta yeah it was good and I even had it replaced under the theft coverage. I was looking in to one for my A4 and was refered to the x811 by a sales rep that sells both.... and I like the options |
