First, apologies for the duplicate post (S4 forum too) but I wanted to catch as many comments as I can.
Does anyone have any experiences to report (positive or negative) on both sales and service for dealers in Northern Utah area. I live in southern part of Salt Lake City and there seem to be only three around - Salt Lake, Ogden & Provo.
I'd really appreciate any personal experience comments on any of them.
Thinking seriously about the S4 but I'm a real picky buyer - I like to deal with salespeople who know their stuff. I'd also prefer to buy from the place that's going to service it although that's not essential if I can get a much better deal by travelling to buy.
Thanks anyone who can respond.
Geoff.

I met with a very knowledgable and friendly sales guy named Franz at Dave Strongs Audi in Salt Lake. The service dept. at that dealership is also very good.

Thanks for the tip. They are my closest dealer so I was rather hoping that I'd hear positive things about them. I'm especially pleased to hear you think well of their service dept. After all, that's where the on-going relationship is.
Cheers,
Geoff.

I just picked up my 2000 a4 from Cutrubus for $1200 over invoice. I ordered it in June when there was no pricing. My salesman was Mike Tuttle and everything was as we had agreed. I can not comment on service yet, but I have a feeling that they are a typical GM dealership and not a classy Audi dealership. Strongs was very hard to deal with. I was told by Franz I was too unskilled to notice or appreciate the sport supension. He made a couple of other comments I disagreed with, plus his best deal was $800 under retail. I talked to the Prove dealership over the phone . He seemed knowledgeable, had the same price as Cutrubus , but they a 2 hrs from me. A few days ago someone posted a similar question as your, but it was titled "Cutrubus Sucks". I asked the lister why, but never heard back.

I just picked up my '00 A4 from Garf in Provo, and I'd be happy to give you the name of the salesperson who helped me. He was extremely knowledgable and helpful. He is an A4 owner and has been one of the few people that is knows his product to my satisfaction. I also had the extremely unfortunate experience of attempting to order from Cutrubus (I live in Layton). They were horrendous, to put it mildly. I have also talked to "Franz" at Strong's and while colorful and entertaining, he was a bit pushy for me, and didn't give anywhere near as good a deal as Garf. I don't have any experience with service at any of these dealers, but I was extremely impressed with the Service Manager. The service facility was very clean and orderly and if it counts for anything, this is also a Porsche dealer. Garf had a gorgeous silver S4 on the floor when I picked my A4 :-)

"Unskilled" !!! That's a really interesting comment for a 'salesperson' to make!
Good for you for voting with your feet. If I end up at Strongs I shall keep a look out for that guy. Although to be even handed, Avard (see post below) indicated he had a positive experience with him. Perhaps you might have caught him while he was 'tactfully challenged' ;-)
I'm not familiar with Cutrubus - are they the guys in Ogden? Audi's site is down right now so I can't check. I'm guessing that would match with your 2 hours from Provo. Are they an "official" Audi dealer?
Thanks for taking the time to post your experiences.
Cheers,
Geoff.

Yes please, I'd like the name of your salesperson at Garf (feel free to email if you don't want to go public). I'm trying to arm myself with as much information as possible before I start wearing out shoe leather. I also want to do my best to avoid the kind of salesperson who uses phrases such as "what's it going to take to get you to drive this car home today"!
Do you intent taking your A4 to Garf for service? I live in south Sandy so, time wise, I'm about midway between Garf & Dave Strong.
Thanks for your comments,
Cheers,
Geoff.

Cutrubus is in Layton if someone hasn't already mentioned it. I talked with a Richard Moore there who would do what I asked, but I always seemed like a bother to him and he was also a bit degrading. At Ken Garff I talked with a Willy who sounded german as well as much more friendly. My best deal actually came from Dave Strong though who were also pretty friendly. I agree with the comment that Cutrubus in Layton which is where I happen to live seem very little like what an Audi dealership should be.

Hope this helps,
Rich

Geoff,

Cutrubus is right off I 15 in Layton. If you check out the Provo dealership (which I think you should) would you get back to me on your impressions on how things appear service wise?

Tom,
I'm sure I will be checking out Garf, in Provo, especially after all of the useful comments here. It may be a few weeks yet - I still have to decide if I can really afford the S4 before I kick off the process, although if I can't then I'll be going for the A4 anyway.
Therefore, my observations on service quality etc. will obviously be a while coming. If you drop me an email with your email address I'll let you know when I have formed an opinion.
Also, both Owen and Rich, in posts above, made comments on Garf.
Cheers,
Geoff.
