Well after alot of fixing up we finally got my 4kq to start.
Problem is, it will only start and run for 5-6 seconds and then stall.
It will immediately restart and do the same over and over.
Applying any throttle kills the engine immediately.
Any ideas?
I'm thinking along the lines of a stuck airflow plate, leaky ISV, temp sensor or maybe vacum leaks.
Shoot me any ideas you guys may have. I'm gonna do some more probing over the weekend.
BTW, yes the "spare" fuse is good.

check your fuel pressure to be sure it is getting a good supply of fuel

when mine did this it turned out to be the fuel pump relay. To check, jumper the two large spades, turn the key to on, then start (this lets you build pressure in the FI to help start too). If you suspect the temp sensor - measure the resistance on the temp sensor on the bottom of the flange by the number one spark plug. It should read about 2500 ohms at room temp, if it reads way less when cold its bad. Also check for corroded ground wires around the FI.

Since the car starts, the cold start valve is doing its job-it is only only active when starter is cranked.

Did you replace the fuel filters?
(both primary and secondary)
The car will run like crap if your
filters are dirty.

My brother just bought a 87 4000q and the car ran fine no problems he drove it one day and drove fine no problems. Then the next time he went to drive it the car wa stalling and everytime you give it gas it stalls. Tried the fuel pump relay trick check for vac leaks cant find none. I cant figure out what could make the car act like this all of a sudden out of the blue. Somebody have anymore advice besides what is in this post. Sorry to hijack the thread a little but my brother's car is haveing the same problem and it has me confused.

I just helped a friend get his 4kq going.
We couldn't figure out what was wrong. Spare fuse ok, good fuel pressure.
Turned out that a previous owner couln't get the CIS box back together, after 'changing' the airfilter. Letting lots of unfiltered air past..
This dirty air, plus other goop managed to stick the CIS flap in the closed position. After pulling off the boot, and cleaning everything, it worked OK.
