Not smart, yes. But I do it all the time.

Got a second set of pads that are JUST for cleaning the paint off hte discs. And, no I don't go driving on 'em to clean it off.

Really...it's not that serious folks. You get better braking off a rotor covered in paint then you do a rusty one that's been sitting all year.
