I'm shopping for a new A4 1.8t in the Chicagoland area. I was wondering if anyone could give me any comments on the dealers they've dealt with, how much or if the salesmen were willing to deal, and how much you paid over invoce. Any comments good or bad would help. Thanks in advance.

I bought my 1.8TSM at Laurel, got a good price, but there where some little things at delivery that I was promised (stainless mugs) that they reniged on. I also had a minor alarm problem (hazards and interior lights would not shut off regardless of switch positions), this was when the car was less than two weeks old. Laurel's service dept. told me that they were taking apointments for 3 weeks out. I explained that I could not drive the car with the hazards on for 3 weeks and this was unacceptable, basically I was told to go pound sand (they really were not any more polite than that). That day I called Continental in Aurora, the service manager told me to bring the car right in, after 2 hours the car was fixed, (alarm control module replaced) they asked me to bring the car back in two days to make sure all was OK and to re-program both remotes. 2 days later they had everything written up, put me in an A6 loaner, and end of day had my car cleaned and ready. What a difference in attitudes and customer service. I felt a little guilty for not having bought the car there. Kudos to Continental. I have bought other Audis from the Exchange in Highland Park. No complaints at all, just a little far for me to go. Apparently Laurel has plays favorites with customers. I share office space with another who got her stainless mugs at delivery, and never waits over 2 days for a service apointments. Whenever I call for an oil change I'm told 3 weeks. Maybe I need a sultry voice to get things done. I paid 2.5% over inv. for my 99.5 1.8TSM in July.

I bought my Audi @ The Exchange in Highland Park. Good selection, and service. Paid about 5% over invoice. I have my car serviced at McGrath Audi. They have a great service dept. over there, and you never have to wait long to get your car in. I'm not so sure about their sales dept., because they are a relatively new Audi dealer, but looks like they are up and coming.

hey mike, i ordered my y2ka4 about 2 months ago from laurel, my guy there was james jayjack - he knew the car real well, and was patient with my many test drives. feel free to use me as a reference, and no, i do not work for him or audi. i paid 6 % over invoice, which i think is a fair deal, not great but good. i don't want to get off on the wrong foot with them . i should be getting my car in 2 - 3 weeks, and i can't wait. i live in the city, near northwest, and the only dealer in chicago, loeber, were not very helpful at all. the salesman i spoke with knew NOTHING about the car, that really turned me off.
