Hi all, Im bored so im thinking up things to do to my CGT and amongst one Ive had on my mind is to change to a 272 type cam. Looks like a fun job to do and one I might learn something from..!

Question I have is how much power change can be expected from the mod. Blau says that the power will be felt from 2000-4000, now on the track I run the thing between 3000 - 6000 so will it be felt there..?

I saw the recent post showing the install on the 4k and it looked like a fun job to do, but im not really up for ripping the engine apart for little gain...

ps... im not gonna go 5K turbo engine.. i dont have that much fun in me...<g>!!

The KX is jsut too low in compression and has small valves...it really can't take advantage of a high lift/duration cam. Now put that cam in a NG or NF and it makes more like 10-15hp...

I noticed that the engine really starts to pull now over 4500rpm. It was very hard to get the car the rev after that before the cam install.

Why not kill two birds with one stone? I can get a head from a Turbo 5K for only $35 (Canadain) so I would think that a local yard would be almost as cheap.

Thanks for all the input folks..! More things to ponder when im bored..!

Emissions: already failed them... LOL so im not too concerned

New Head: Ive thought about the Blau head, but Im not sure I want to shell out $1300.. Never thought of swapping with a 5K engine, that mite be interesting. I did think about the shaving idea as I had heard that it was done on Spitfire engines (we own one of those too)

So much fun, so little time..!
