first of all the 99.5s have american looking taillights with that reflective crap in them

also the 99.5 headlights, although they are better, are corny looking when they are not on

yes i am a 99 owner and i was aware of the changes that were going to be made
i bought the car then because i didnt want the new changes

I know there are a few differences between the 99 and 99.5 Avant, but the taillights are the same. I thought the taillights on the 99 sedan are the same as the ones on the 99.5. Are you thinking of the 98s maybe?

The headlights on the 99.5 may look corny to you, but they work a lot better than the 99 headlights. A friend of mine has a 99 Avant and I have a 99.5 and the difference is quite remarkable- projector lights rule. Well, anyway, to each his own.

yeah i do agree that the 99.5 headlights work better but i have a 99 and the taillights are definitely better than the 99.5s

Frankly there are certain aspects of the 99.5 that kind suck. I don't dig the look of the new sunroof control...do like the ambient light feature...but don't like the A6 style controls. Don't like the new ashtray area, don't like the new cigarette lighter location (don't smoke BTW) as it gets stuck all the time...plus my Nokia 6190 fits in that little slot on the 99 like it was tailor made for it. Don't like the fact that you have to scrap the headlamps to get clear corners.

Do like the new door handles...don't know bout the polished pillar, it's easy to scratch. Do like the bigger ding strips for their functionality.

It's pretty much a wash for me...I simply wasn't willing to wait another 3 months on top of the 3 I had already waited.

I'd much rather have my mods than the MINOR diffrences between the 99 and 99.5 Quasi model year.

I love all A4's but will defend the 99 to the bitter end...it's everything the 99.5 is and better / worse in some respects IMHO.

personally, even if i was buying an a4 today, i would rather buy a 99 than a 99.5 or a 2000
