Ever since my car was broken in to, my sunroof and moonroof have failed to function properly (the idiot tried coming in through the moonroof but only succeeded in breaking the left and right guide plates). I have replaced both of the broken guide plates; however, that only gave me use of the moonroof. That was fine for a while but know I want everything to work. While attempting to get the sunroof to slide back into the car, the left and right guides (the pieces that are attached to the cables that cause the whole thing to move) became out of sync. One of them is now about an inch ahead of the other. From the schematic I have, I can see how this could happen (the left and right guides are attached to independent cables) but not how to fix it.

Once I get them re-aligned, I still need to figure out why the top of the sunroof is not sinking down far enough to retract back into the car (my original problem).

Thanks for any suggestions!

Matt

Once the motor is unscrewed from the roof that will free up the cables. Then you can manually slide the cables until they are squared up again.

There may be more damage done than you first realized.

So, get it squared up, then run the motor back and forth a few times while it's still hanging from the roof and not screwed in place. Then, set the motor to the closed position, close the sunroof by hand and get the guides/ramps etc. all squared up.

With the sunroof in the closed position and the motor also in the closed position, re-install the motor. Then try to operate the sunroof while watching the guides and ramps move.
