View Full Version : For those who doubt the 30 cent throttle mod

I took nearly 3 seconds off my total time on the Duryea Hill Climb this year. That's the only thing I changed since last season, and we only got 3 runs, so there is still room for improvement. Additionally, my shift points on course were much different, so the car is getting there quicker.
Not something that will probably matter during a drag race, granted, but on a road course like this with lots of throttle modulation it seems to have made a real difference. Worth the on-street annoyance to me.

because i tested the mod on a TB that i had off the car, and while it does open the secondary sooner, it doesn't open it as wide. So at WOT, you won't be getting as much air as you would w/o the mod. Less air = less power. But perhaps this is countered by it opening sooner? I'm not sure.
Whatever floats your fancy i suppose.

One crew chief says they dent or cut a hole in the floorboard so the driver can push the pedal down farther. Makes him go faster.

Thought it was pretty funny.

It depends on the size 'screw' that you use.
Mine opens both to about 98% of the travel, so it is very effective. I have seen where it will not work properly with a different size screw head.

when your on the track you want to be able to feather the throttle and use the maximum grip that the tires will allow. I do agree that that 30 cent trick gives you full throttle much faster. Tt can't be helping out much since esentially all it does is create full throttle. you can't make the throttle body bigger or open more than it already does when your at full throttle.
