After having my driver's side "heated" mirror replaced for the fourth time during a recent servicing I was told that Audi had corrected the mirror problem by installing, in the mirror, a temperature sensor which turns the mirror heating element off when the glass temp. reaches a certain level. The new mirror seems to work well. At all temperatures, the mirror turns on when the car is started and then clicks off and doesn't turn itself on if the ambient outside temperature is above approx. 60 degrees or more. In the morning, when the temp. is lower, the mirror is in the "on mode" but actually it turns itself on and off like a heating element on a stove rather than staying on perpetually- you can actually hear it click on and off. I tried to get the service guys to fix the passenger mirror but they said it was heating fine - which I am sure it wil do until my warranty expires.
