I was told by the last owner of my 1983 GT that that particular model was a "gas saving" model so although it redlines at 6500 it wont go past 4500, the fuel cuts out and the revs just bounce at 4500. Does this happen on all Coupes? Is there anyway to take the limit off?

No problem hitting redline on either my '82 or '83.

get a 5cyl one, pop it in and you should be able to rev to redliine

I had to change the ICU in my 4-cyl. once. I used a "Hugo" which cut off at 4400 rpm. I replaced it w/ a Bosch (noisy, more expensive, but works).
Kinda ironic to have a fuel-saving GT, no?
