I installed some INTRAX springs on my coupeGT and bought some BOGE gas shocks. I know these aren't really designed to lowering purposes.. but I thought they would at least work for a while.. anyway.

What I find is that there aren't enough threads on the rear or front to tighten everything down properly. I run out of threads in the back with about 1/4" gap and about the same, if not more in the front.

Has anyone else run into the same issue? I guess I can just cut some more threads in the front and make a spacer for the back but what a PITA.

Thanks...
Jim

Really!

You have something, or some parts not installed correctly!

I've never seen what you are describing, or ever heard of it! Somethings not right with your setup?

You have any books or diagrams of how the parts are suppose to go back together?

You have a set of spring compressors?

Are the shocks "fully" extended?

I know.. Ive done quite a few spring / strut jobs and this is the first I've had problems with... The front of the car has urq strut bearings and a buddy says that thats what happens(a gap in between the cap and the body)...

the rear is another story. Im investigating the possibility that they sent me the wrong shocks. Will do that tomorrow..

yes, I have the bentley..

yes I have spring compressors and yes the shocks are fully extended.. the shafts are too long thats the problem. arg.

thanks-
Jim

Just make sure the notched nut is tightened down properly, the gap there is normal and as long as there is no knocking noise you are ok.

The "castle-nut" type bushing is tight.. I made a tool to tighten it..

thanks again

We ended up calling one of his mechanics who owns a VW fox with a similar suspension at midnight to check and see what it looks like. Mine has a good 1/2 inch gap but has not been a problem.
