Patient is a 1987 Coupe GT. The cable that runs between the drivers side latch and the passenger side latch is SO tight that the drivers side won't lock down. How can I adjust it? I noticed a little hex shaped bolt on the part that connects to the passenger side latch, but was afraid to touch it (worried I might mess up that side and have NO latch). PLEASE SEND HELP! I'm stuck at work, but happen to have a tool set with me. :)

Never mind, I "fixed" it. The hood release lever wasn't retracting all the way after you unlock the hood. The clear/thin plastic coating was binding up where it comes out of the black sleeve. It was all bunched up. I just cut away the part that was bound up and now it seems to work smoothly and properly.

your lucky, my cable broke, now i crawl under the car for the driver side, and release it by hand, and the passenger side requires a screwdriver stuck in just above the headlight and to the right of the bracket. Im probably gonna switch over to hood pins eventually.

Hood pins are a PITA. We have six of 'em on the hood of the BMW race car and I hate them. Plus, they definately don't look cool after the chrome plates get all scratched to hell.
get a "good" cable from thepartsconnection.com or somewhere that gets the "good" stuff from Europe. Pretty easy to install.

I had pretty much given up on any cheap or easy repair for my car, and I have not seen another 4000, in one piece or for parts, in the central NY area in years. Thanks though, I would much rather have the cable then pins.
