Why does dealer charge more for a certain paint?

Some manufacturers charge more for metallic paint. It costs a little more to produce, because of a high mica conten, you usually only see this on the Euro cars. Audi charged in the past additional for the Pearl White, because of the higher cost of paint, and the numerous additional steps in the paint process
