I'm wondering about a FWD to Quattro conversion on my 82 coupe. It's a long way down the road, but I'm really interested in doing it. has anyone pulled it off? How many sexual favors will I hace to perform for a mechanic to take on such a ridiculous task?

The floorpans are completely different, and the trans tunnel is almost certainly different, not to mention the nightmare of plumbing in an entire vacuum system for it from scratch! All things considered, it would probably be cheaper to just buy an UrQ, there's a guy over on that forum selling his for $8k.

If you're not doing it yourself, forget it! It's way too complicated because you'd have to cut the floorpan off a 4kq and weld it back on the CGT...and an 82 isn't the best choice as it still has the underdash fuse box....
Better forget this idea or get some welding courses and do it yourself!
